The Nikon Z50 is a The company says the camera is designed to attract a generation of users who don’t consider themselves to be photographers. Alongside the camera, Nikon has announced two lenses designed for this sensor size: a mm F3.
The adapter is not included in any of the kits announced so far. We take a look at what it offers and how it squares up to its rivals.
Read more. The Z50 is based around an updated version of the It still looks pretty good against the competition. The Z50’s video looks good and it’s one of the easiest cameras to shoot both stills and video with. We found a lot to like about the Z50 but it has some very capable rivals in better-established systems. Many are now on ebay and alike for prices lower than a d As a general rule, unless a reader has read many reviews and experienced a lot of photography, almost any given review is good for general information.
I feel many Nikonians! However, historically some other reviews have been aggressively way too unfair or maybe bordering near total ignorance or God knows what, resulting total disappeance of some Nikons.
As many Nikon one users would agree. A camera that every pro should have had along their gear at its own time, feather weight too, and if it had continued, it would have reached a peak probably unattainable financially by any rival. Don’t be so picky. It should be close enough ha ha. I did the same thing as you did and clicked on the first field but if you scroll down you will see it again and click on that one and you will get the correct review.
Someone made a mistake. Nice camera, but unfortunately my device started showing problems with the shutter release button. The button may not respond to full pressing or there is a “bounce of contacts” so several frames are taken during the full press.
And the camera was not used very intensively. The first time I have such a problem with a Nikon camera, which is very sad. There are no service centers in our country yet and it is impossible to repair it.
May be quality became worster. I had to send mine back to the camera company where I purchased the Nikon Z 50 had nothing but problems with it The camera was decent the first day, then everything I took was blurry, then the sound of the motor was whirring I am out over I have the D5 and a D The Z50 with the fits that bill perfectly.
Using one of Peak Designs clips or simply dropping the camera into my winter parka’s pocket, this thing is easy to carry around. I paid less for this camera with the FTZ adapter than I would have for an upgraded smartphone and the picture quality is excellent. It works well and keeps me in the Nikon family. Actually, so impressed with this I am considering a Nikon full-frame mirrorless which I swore I wouldn’t do. Why does this review not have any info on the storage slots?
Is it dual-card? Is it CFExpress? I’ve added that detail to the first page of the review. Most of these reviews should begin with tagline “What is new for [brand] lovers. Being last to market with mirrorless cameras, and dead last with a crop frame, We may ask what Nikon brings to the segment since you have to buy all new lenses, good for Nikon board and shareholders that is better or even as good as competitors and peers from other brands.
If there is nothing new or remarkable as we see here, we DO get to say, here is a new model for Nikon lovers only.
There is a lot out there, more excellent in one way or another, and without the cost penalty, to get five white letters hanging about your neck. Question for the experts here: I have a Nikon D Would it be an improvement to trade it in for the Nikon Z50? Depends on what is important to you.
In most ways yes. If stills are all you do – well, it is better, but how much better for your needs? The Z50 shoots at 11 frames per second. The D shoots at a paltry 5 fps. So that’s another big improvement if you want to capture moving subjects.
The z50 is a more direct sister model to the D7xxx series than to the D5xxx series. So – yes – it has higher frame rates also just a mirrorless thing in general. For me – the biggest advantage to a Z50 on the stills side of the house would be the face and eye detect autofocus. The D or D isn’t very good, most of the time, at finding faces. Don’t underestimate the usefulness of an electronic viewfinder over an optical viewfinder. With an EVF, you can preview your exposure. This has saved my butt a few times for sure!
I do think it all depends on what you photograph and how you photograph. The Nikon Z50 is so much better than you write I have the Nikon Z50 and the Nikon D,.. After testing the Nikon Z The Focus system is over complicated and slowly if you compare it with the Nikon D The full articulated Display is never useful with bigger lenses or with FTZ-mount The video quality is outstanding Great review, thanks.
Is there a reason for “not recommended for landscapes? I’m not sure to read any mention of the issue during the review. I’m pretty sure it is because the sensor is on the lower resolution side, so isn’t the best choice for large blowups of landscapes.
But if you aren’t looking to make very large prints, it would be perfectly fine for landscapes. It can certainly shoot landscapes, but we don’t see it as a particular strength of the camera.
I wanted a smaller camera to pack on the motorcycle so the Z7 wouldn’t be at risk so it had to be light, and not too expensive. Ended up with the Z50 as it filled the bill as well as able to take by Z mount lenses AND any F mount I had Fujifilm cameras were really my other choice but they were more expensive and I’d have to spend money on lenses on top of that.
I ended up adding the mm “kit” lense and carrying it with me when we walk the dogs. Holy Moly does it come in handy. It’s very unfair to the camera but my expectations were low -and they were exceeded by an order of magnitude.
By biggest complaint – it ain’t no D neither is the Z7. Dang SD card slot is in with the battery – I think I have finally trained myself to take the card out vs the battery! I wish it had a faster card or used XQD cards.
Perhaps Nikon could build a semi-pro version? I’m actually considering slowly replacing my D with a Z Mostly for the size, weight, noise, flash, and user modes. As much as I enjoy it, my D ends up staying in the bag a lot more than it should. I’d say “exceeded by an order of magnitude” overrides “ain’t no D!
I have a canon T2i and four compatible lenses. I’m an enthusiast, but no expert. However, I’ve always read e. But I’ve been looking on Flickr, and the typical picture from the Z50 is much better than the typical picture from M-6 M2. It would be easier for me to buy the Canon or perhaps the T8i whenever it comes out and is reviewed. The M-6 M2 seems to have some noise issues same as the 90d due to the same sensor – I was really waiting for a 7D M iii but that seems to have been cancelled.
I shoot a lot of birds, but also landscapes, street and the insides of churches on vacations. But this looks like a great camera based on the volume of Flickr Pics. I own one. I can only give my recommendations on my own experience as an enthusiast, but not an expert by any means.
I’ve used more than a few cameras of different brands over the years. The Z50 is quite frankly the best camera I have ever owned. Fabulous image quality, video is excellent like I said, not an expert description , and so easy to use. The lens is so sharp, noise is so low in darker situations. Nikon hit this one out of the ballpark, highly recommended, and I don’t work for Nikon.
